UK Gamblers : £23 per week

August 30th, 2006

A new report has found that many UK punters enjoy gambling online and that the office is often the place where they do it.

Office gamblers are estimated to wager around £2 billion online each year.

A study by the online odds comparison service BetRescue has found that around three million people in Britain use office hours to bet and gamble over the internet.

The average gambler in the workplace is thought to be wagering around £23 a week in a variety of forms, including at online casinos, as well as on horse and dog racing and of course football.

It works out that the average online gambler is wagering just under £1,200 each year, of which only about 28% is ever won back.

The figures are evidence of the passion for gambling, which has been boosted in recent years by the introduction of online firms that has meant that punters are no longer required to head down to the bookies or the casino for their action.
