Denmark v Sweden Suspended After Fan on Pitch
The Euro 2008 qualifier between Denmark and Sweden was abandoned in the last minutes after referee Herbert Fandel was attacked by a fan.
With the scores level at 3-3 heading into the final minute, the German official sent off Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen and awarded a penalty to Sweden.
The decision prompted one member of the crowd to run onto the pitch and begin harassing Fandel. Fandel immediately called a halt to the match, with the result now to be decided by UEFA’s disciplinary committee.
It is expected that the committee will hand Sweden a 3-0 winning result – but that will only count in the record books.
For sports punters – you should see that the bookies will declare the match void and all result bets will be refunded completely.
Here is video coverage of the incident from YouTube.
