Milan don’t want Ronaldinho and Chelsea won’t pay?
A Milan club source has said their priority was to sign a striker to complement Brazilian midfielder Kaka rather than another playmaker – pouring cold water on the rumours that the unsettled Ronaldinho was Milan bound.
Instead the source at Milan, who are currently 13th in Serie A after a dismal start to the domestic season, said the club would target a ball-winning centre-forward in the mould of Didier Drogba, after seeing Ronaldo, Filippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino all struggle this season.
This means that only English Club Chelsea appear to be in the running for want-away Ronaldinho, with their owner, Roman Abramovich, having met the player’s brother, Roberto Assis in August.
However, Barca have valued Ronaldinho at £43m and its doubtful whether a move for the 27-year-old would be advisable, particularly given the Premiership club’s desire to streamline its business and try to breakeven without continually going cap-in-hand to their Russian owner.
Barcelona reiterated on Wednesday that the Brazilian star is not for sale – but no-one beleives that he’s happy in Spain anymore – and frankly after seeing Barca agitate and unsettle other clubs players for years – this is quite enjoyable to see the boot on the other foot.
