Paddy Power faces a 5 million Euro Golf Payout
Ah huh, we assumed Padraig Harrington’s British Open victory would give our intrepid Irish bookie, Paddy Power, a little pain in the back pocket. The Paddy Power crew sound chipper enough though in a press release yesterday…
Irish bookmaker Paddy Power is facing around €5 million in payouts after countryman Padraig Harrington’s British Open victory. A spokesperson for the bookmaker called his win “pretty expensive”, but said that it was “impossible not to cheer for him”.
PaddyPower.com was running an Extra Place Special on the British Open too – paying out on the sixth placed players Hunter Mahan and Stewart Cink as Dead heat rules applied.
Congratulations to Padraig for becoming the first European to lift a Major in this millenium! The question now is will his win at Carnoustie give Padraig Harrington enough of a confidence boost so he can go on to win more Major titles?
