Ah, Father Ted, the television series? Yes!
In case you’ve been on another planet (or possibly in the US), Father Ted was a surreal and genuinely bizarre mix of whimsy, blarney, satire and violence packaged in outrageously funny plots.
The show follows the exploits of three Roman Catholic priests who preside over a parish on Craggy Island off the Irish coast. Father Ted Crilly, Father Dougal McGuire and the retired Father Jack Hackett live together in Craggy Island’s parochial house, along with their manic housekeeper Mrs Doyle. (Avoid her sandwiches at all costs!)
So what?
There is a festival on this weekend on the real Craggy Island and of course Paddy Power, Ireland’s top online bookmaker, has come to the party with some novelty bets to add to the entertainment value.

The Best Episode?
Current favourite is Series 2, episode 5: Song for Europe at 2/1 (3.00). Strangely, Series 3: Episode 6, Kicking Father Brennan up the Arse is only 6/1 (7.00). I agree with Paddy’s long odds of 80/1 for Series 3, Episode 8: Going to America as this one was one of the weaker episodes.
Cup O’ Tae?
What about a bet on how many cups of tea will be served in the town hall at the festival each/per day? 301-400 is 3/1 (4.00) is favourite
You can even bet on the local 5-a-side soccer match between Inis Oirr and Inis Mor with Inis Orr the favourite at 8/11 (1.73).
